Well, welcome to my first ever newsletter. I'm sat writing this snuggled up on my settee with the heating on now with the summer days a long and distant memory. Autumn is definitely here and one of the problems with Autumn is the shorter darker nights making you feel a little depressed and the havoc the central heating plays on your skin. So with those two things in mind thats going to be the basis of my letter.
I hope to bring a little happiness your way and brighten your days with some pampering ideas.
Aromatherapy is a wonderful ally for autumn blues. Here is an Uplifting Blend recipe:
20 drops sweet orange essential oil
20 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops grapefruit essential oil
5 drops lime essential oil
5 drops rosemary essential oil
2 drops jasmine absolute essential oil

I have been witness to the effects of stress on a myriad of people over the past 10 years as I have treated people with holistic massage. There are many effective treatments available but what has struck me as the most important things is .... taking time to breathe!
Reading up again on stress management, techniques and yoga this past couple of weeks has reminded me of the power of calm controlled deep breathing.
If you feel yourself getting stressed, try to halt those feelings in their tracks by taking deep comfortable breaths. Start by inhaling for three seconds, then exhale for a little longer. Continue this for several breaths until you feel calmer. To help the process try to think only of the breaths
..... in.... out .... in ..... out .....
Then as you breathe out imagine you are breathing away the stress and anxiety, think about letting go of the tension with every out breath. This may sound too simple to work, but the effect of basic breathing exercises can be profound. With the next breath lift your shoulders up high to your ears and as you breath out drop them down. Give it a try and find your time to breathe!
